The Finn Wardman Fund Scholarship & Bursary (2024).

Introduction

The Finn Wardman World Explorer Fund at the Bermuda Foundation is dedicated to empowering financially challenged students between the ages of 17 and 25 by providing them with the resources and opportunities to pursue their dreams, develop their skills, and achieve their full potential.

Eligibility & Application Guidelines

  • Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 25 to apply for a Finn Wardman Bursary.
  • They must be able to demonstrate financial need.
  • All applications must be supported by three referees (personal, academic and professional/athletic) who will be contacted in the event that a candidate is shortlisted.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.
  • No preference is given to first-time applicants. Applicants may apply multiple times.
  • Applicants must be willing to commit to reporting on their activities.
  • Although the bursaries are open to international applicants, international laws may restrict where funding and payments may be sent. As such, candidates from jurisdictions subject to sanctions or other regulatory compliance issues may be ineligible for this funding opportunity.
  • In the event an applicant is under 18, the application must be signed by a parent/guardian. The parent/guardian must also sign the liability waiver.

Financial Verification Endorser

The Financial Verification Endorser verifies that without the requested funding, the applicant might not be able to participate in the activity of choice. The Endorser acts as an objective third party who is familiar with the applicant's family and is in a professional position to assess the social and economic barriers facing the applicant/family.

  • An Endorser can be a professional in social work or family services, a school principal or counsellor, a senior recreation administrator, accountant, law enforcement officer, a registered physician, or a priest or pastor
  • Endorsers, other than those listed (i.e., school principals or counsellors, coaches), may be considered if a written letter from the potential Endorser outlining the financial need of the family is included with the application.
  • Family members cannot serve as endorsers.
